Sterotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) pronounced ‘SABER’ has revolutionized radiation therapy. SABR involves the administration of very highly focused radiation doses to an isolated tumor or tumors within the body or in patients for whom surgery may not be an optimal treatment. The the goal is to concentrate radiation on the tumor while limiting the dose to surrounding organs. The goal is of complete tumor cell kill in the treated area. SBRT is an image-based treatment using a high dose of radiotherapy with pinpoint accuracy in three to five sessions.

High Efectiveness and Accuracy
Our new SABR systems image, localize and shape radiation for small to moderate-sized tumors. For most indications, local tumor control rates of 90% can be achieved with SABR. SABR uses the latest image guidance technologies to ablate tumors with millimeter accuracy. The ability to spare healthy tissues while intensifying the radiation dose is the primary advantage of SABR over other modalities, particulary when critical structures are located near a treatment area. SBRT uses highly enhanced CT image guidance preceding each treatment to provide optimal treatment accuracy.

Non Invasive and Painless
SABR is non-invasive and painless for the patient to undergo.

Convenient Outpatient Service
SABR treatments are done as short outpatient vistits of 30 minutes to one hour. There is no hospitalization required. Treatment is typically completed in 1-5 days, allowing more freedom for patients busy lives even if they are traveling from a distance. This results in little or no interruption of patients chemotherapy schedules or other cancer treatments.

Clinical Indications and Experience
SABR has revolutionized the treatment of Early Stage Lung Cancer and is accepted as the standard of care in selected patients with small localized lung tumors. We have experience treating tumors throughout the body including Head and Neck Cancers, Lung Cancer, Abdomen (Liver, Pancreas and Adrenal) Cancers, Pelvic Cancers and Bone Cancers. Out physicians continue to drive innovation in this highly sophisticated field both technologically as well as clinically. We continue to train clinicians acorund the world on our Tomotherapy SABR system.
